25% of the residents of the occupied territories in the East of Ukraine need food – UN

About a quarter of the residents of the occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions suffer from lack of food.

Such evaluation of food security level has been preliminary made by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, reports .

According to the information received, 800,000 residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are experiencing food shortages. At the same time, 170,000 are in acute need of food products.

A particularly difficult situation takes place in Donetsk region.

There is also difficult situation in the controlled territories: the number of people who lack food has doubled during the year – from 7% to 15%, the UN says.
