Draft Law on Financial Police has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers

The Ministry of Finance has submitted a draft law on the establishment of the Financial Police for consideration of the Government. The Ministry hopes for a speedy approval of the document developed by the Government and the Verkhovna Rada.

The press-service of the Ministry of Finance has informed « Law and Business magazine ».

“Today the Ministry of Finance has submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers a draft law on the establishment of the Financial Police – analytical investigation services, not a punitive body. As promised, process has been launched and all the necessary steps are carried out. The most important thing so far is to adopt the draft law in the Parliament and the Cabinet of Ministers as soon as possible”, it is said in a statement.

As previously stated by the Minister of Finance Alexander Danilyuk, the draft law on the establishment of the Financial Police stipulates a quota for representatives of the defence and law enforcement agencies and reduction of personnel up to 2,500 employees, i.e. six times less than the current number of tax police staff.

Early adoption of the Law and creation of the Financial Police will solve a legal conflict, which occurred due to an error in the text of the law “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine on the improvement of the investment climate in Ukraine”, which came into force on January 1, and de jure left the Tax police beyond the law.
