International Committee on Human Rights in Crimea is to begin its work soon

The International Committee on Human Rights in Crimea is to be presented soon.

Refat Chubarov, the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, made this statement, according to “Crimea. Realities ”.

“Right now we are having discussions with lawyers… and other public figures as to the possibility of establishing an International Committee, the activity of which would be focused on all those processes occurring in Crimea in the field of human rights” , Refat Chubarov says.

“Soon we will be able to publish the principles of establishment of this Committee” , he added.

According to him, the Committee will base its activity, first and foremost, “on capabilities and experience of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People”.

As for the members, there are plans to invite established experts, representatives of public organizations – all those who have been involved in the matters of safeguarding human rights in the Crimean peninsula over the last two years.

According to the Head of the Mejlis, one of the Committee’s principal objectives would be the development of scheme of visitations to Crimea for lawyers to partake in the trials on Ukrainian citizens in the peninsula, as well as the protection of their interests.
