Members of Parliament have accepted the dismissal of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine

On March 29, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted in favour of the dismissal of the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin. The draft Resolution on accepting the dismissal of Shokin from the post of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine by the President of Ukraine was supported by 289 Members of Parliament.

It should be noted that one day before the voting, about 200 activists gathered before the President’s Administration in order to voice their demand for the dismissal of the Prosecutor General and an open competition to be held for the position. Other demands included the calls for keeping the prosecutors, who had been working in the team of the Deputy Prosecutor General David Sakvarelidze, on their positions and non-interference in the work of the Anti-Corruption Center.
