Russians will be sent to prison for illegal crossing of the Ukrainian border

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding liability for illegal crossing of the state border”. Now the Russians are facing up to 5 years for the illegal border crossing.

243 People’s Deputies voted for this bill (№ 7017).

The Law supplemented the Criminal Code of Ukraine with a new article 3322 “Illegal crossing of the state border”, which criminalizes crossing the state border of Ukraine by a person who has the citizenship or nationality of the aggressor state or another person for the behalf of the aggressor state to conflict the national interests of Ukraine, in any way, outside the checkpoints through the state border of Ukraine or at checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine without relevant documents or documents containing false data, with imprisonment for up to 3 years.

According to the Law, “the same act committed repeatedly or by a group of persons are punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of 3 to 5 years”.

The law provides for criminal liability for the above-mentioned crimes with the use of weapons in the form of deprivation of liberty for a term of 5 to 8 years.
