The Department of Detainee Rights Protection is set to begin its operation in the National Police in summer

The National Police are setting up the Special Department of Detainee Rights Protection and Response to Detainee Treatment Violations.

Khatia Dekanoidze , the Head of the Agency, has stated so, according to BBC Ukraine.

“In summer, the Department of Human Rights Protection will begin its operation in the National Police” , Dekanoidze stated at the briefing.

According to her, offices of this dep. will be working in every region.

26 policemen are already going through special trainings. In July, the staff of new dep. will begin its work.

The Police also plan to reduce the number of temporary detention facilities, whereas the remaining ones will be “re-arranged”.
