The UN has called upon Ukraine to arrest the Crimea blockade participants

The Human Rights Office has advised the Government to conduct a thorough investigation of the incidents on the peninsula border.

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the UN has called upon Kyiv to investigate the claims of human rights violations committed during the Crimea blockade, which had been initiated by the activists.

This recommendation is laid down in the 13th report of the UN on the state of human rights and freedoms in Ukraine, published in Geneva.

The Ukrainian authorities have been advised to “investigate the claims of human rights violations during the “civil blockade” and “arrest those who committed them”. The Human Rights Office has also called upon Kyiv to “ensure public safety and the rule of law in the southern districts of Kherson Region”.
