There are plans to establish a Supreme Anti-Corruption Court in Ukraine

There are plans to establish two new higher specialized courts in Ukraine, namely – the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, which would perform the function of reviewing criminal cases investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and provide all procedural clearances.

Justice Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko informed thereof during his press conference on Thursday, May 26.

According to him, there is also a discussion going on as to establishing a Supreme Patent Court , which would deal exclusively with the cases on intellectual property.

Furthermore, the Minister claims that all parties of the working group have agreed that the Supreme Court would be thoroughly updated, including its staff and new expanded authority. There are also plans to eliminate specialized courts . The Justice Ministry intends to transfer their functions to appropriate chambers or subdivisions of a renewed Supreme Court.
