Ukraine placed eighth by the number of displaced persons

Ukraine holds eighth place in the world by overall number of internally displaced persons.

This was confirmed by the research of the Monitoring Center of Internally Displaced Persons of the Norwegian Refugee Council.

According to the research, overall there are 1,679 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine.

In this rating, Ukraine is outnumbered by Syria, Columbia, Iraq, Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria, and South Sudan. In Syria, which currently holds the first place, approximately 6,6 million displaced persons have been recorded.

In 2015, in the rating based on the number of displaced persons due to conflict, Ukraine placed fourth with an index of 942 thousand people. It was outnumbered by Yemen (2,175 million people), Syria (1,3 million people), and Iraq (1,114 million).
