Ukrainians can change a passport for ID-card

From November 1, the possibility to register identity cards (ID-card) was introduced for all citizens. Previously only citizens who receive a passport for the first time could apply for such ID cards.

According to the Government Decree №745 as of October 26, as “Law and Business” informed.

The Decree also states that until the full provision of territorial subdivisions of the State Migration Service with the material and technical resources necessary for the registration and issuance of ID-card, passport of citizen of Ukraine may be registered using special booklets.

It is also noted that acceptance of documents to apply for a citizen of Ukraine passport, which does not contain a contactless electronic medium is terminated on November 1.

Meanwhile, passport of the citizen of Ukraine, containing no contactless electronic medium, issued on the basis of documents submitted by November, is valid for the period for which it was issued.

According to the approved decision, a passport is issued starting from 14 years old. For persons who have reached the age of 18 – it is issued for 10 years and for persons under 18 years – for 4 years.

One can get a passport in the centers of administrative services.
